So...I've decided to start a blog as too. Everyone else is doing it. So now you have to read mine as well as everyone else's that you frantically try to catch up with all week long!
Seriously, my sister started one about my little niece. And I like reading it. I although I don't have kids, just a small dog, a boyfriend, and some nutty friends...that should be somewhat entertaining, right?
You don't have to answer that. I'm going to write about it all anyhow.
To catch up...living in Miami Beach, FL. 34 flights up, on the ocean. I currently have 3 occupations (I mean, one, IRS! Heh, heh.....) but I'm hoping maybe I can pare that down soon. I simultaneously sell residential real estate, run an events company for young professionals, and I'm starting an Internet based website. So yeah, I have extra time to write a blog. Hah.
Life for me consists of lots of work. Lots of play. Some wine. And cheese. Exercise, when I get a moment. My doggie. Music, travel. Gourmet cooking. One great guy, great friends and family.
A bit about Miami...my adopted home, the Magic City, love it here. It's changing rapidly, so it's a great time to be a part of this wonderful city. Very open minded, and a lot of ethnicity. This tends to lead to a little more lackadaisical attitudes towards certain things (IE, completely normal to go out to dinner at 10PM and party until dawn.) Things are a little more relaxed here, laid back, European or Latin American kind of life. And yeah, you can live here if you don't speak Spanish - it's just gonna be an adventure for you.
Yadda yadda yadda. Let's get to the good stuff, shall we?
The weeks prior to this have been very busy. We in Miami just celebrated our national holiday, also known as the Winter Music Conference. This is a weeklong event for the brave of heart. And eardrums. What? Anyhow, all the best DJ's in the world - and some shitty ones too - all converge on Miami and spin and spin and spin. And you, you lucky party goer, pay a lot of money to see them and stay up until all hours, emptying from nightclubs like vampires into the sunrise, annoyed that you forgot 1)earplugs and 2) sunglasses! Because, ow! And wait....does this mean we're getting old?
Anyhow, we were lucky this year that one of our bestest friends, Michele, has a lot of connections and so we got to see some great DJ's. The highlight of our week was Armin Van Buuren, who played at Parkwest on Saturday night. He was voted the #1 DJ in the whole world, and It was an incredible set, everything we'd been hoping for and more - and then Marcus Schultz, his prodigy, played on until after we left at dawn. We had a great table, save for the base speakers making every hair on my body bounce with each beat, and a hearing loss issue. We got used to it. What?
Debbie and me, Nikki Beach.
Armin, starting his 3 hour long set.
"What? The table costs how much?"
Debbie and Michele, still looking good at 3am
So after we sufficiently recovered from that for a week, we packed up and went to Punta Mita, Mexico. Punta Mita is a planned community about an hour away from Puerto Vallarta, with a lot of nice homes and resorts. We saw whales! And I got held hostage on the beach by three wandering mutts. Anyways, we were the guests of some good friends of ours, and other friends joined us as well. The house was 7,000 sq ft and absolutely amazing. The pool ran through the indoor courtyard, through the living room, and out to the backyard to a negative edge pool overlooking the ocean. A chef and the staff took care of us -so we didn't leave all week. It was very relaxing a ton of fun, you can see more pictures when I post them on Flickr. But here are a few:
Our room, neurotic unpacking fun
Mike and me, looking all vacation like and stuff. Of course, we look like this all the time. Really.
The casa. Yes, I did swim through the house. Before the margaritas.
"Fancy artistic sunset photo"
So that's all I can really fathom writing about right now, after figuring out the photo arrangement and dealing with a great moment where my computer screen went black, I had to restart the whole thing, and thought I lost this entire blog just after I started it.
And I do have a nice Adobe Road 2005 Cab just begging me to drink it. What? Still having hearing problems...
Next post: The party to be at last week, Michael Capponi's 1940's birthday party! These pics are fun, people!
